When will I receive my DEXA Sports Package results?

Yes. WLC Medical vouchers are available for appointments and services at the clinic, including DEXA scans and packages. Vouchers can be purchased for an existing patient or as a gift for someone who would like to access our services.

To purchase a voucher, please submit an enquiry through our online enquiry form, and a member of our reception team will contact you to arrange the voucher and payment. Alternatively, you can contact our clinic directly on (08) 6263 7778 or speak with our reception team at the clinic.

The DEXA Sports Package is $295 and includes a Total Body Composition DEXA scan and ECAL Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) testing during a 60-minute appointment with one of our Accredited Practising Dietitians.

Your ECAL results are available during your appointment, and your initial DEXA results will be briefly discussed with you. Your comprehensive DEXA report will be provided within 7 business days.

Private health rebates may be available for the eligible Dietitian consultation component of your appointment, depending on your health fund and level of cover. We recommend checking directly with your private health insurer to confirm your eligibility and expected rebate.

No. Despite the name, the DEXA Sports Package is not only for competitive athletes.

It may be suitable for recreational athletes and fitness enthusiasts, people managing their weight, people using GLP-1 medications or following significant weight loss, individuals focused on maintaining muscle mass and healthy ageing, people returning to training following injury or reduced activity, and people wanting to better understand their body composition and metabolism.

Preparation is important because your appointment includes both a DEXA scan and ECAL metabolism testing.

For your ECAL test, please fast for a minimum of 4 hours before your appointment. Water is permitted. Please also avoid exercise for at least 12 hours before your test.

For your DEXA scan, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing without metal zips, buttons, belts, underwire or hi-vis reflective tape where possible.

Full preparation instructions will be provided when you book your appointment.

Your appointment includes a brief discussion of your ECAL metabolism results and initial Body Composition DEXA results with an Accredited Practising Dietitian.

Due to the amount of information collected during the appointment, the DEXA Sports Package does not include comprehensive dietetic advice, personalised nutrition planning or an individualised meal plan.

If you are seeking detailed nutrition advice or support with weight management, sports nutrition or nutrition planning, we recommend booking a separate Dietitian consultation.

The DEXA Sports Package combines two assessments during one 60-minute appointment with an Accredited Practising Dietitian:

Total Body Composition DEXA Scan – provides detailed information about your lean muscle mass, fat mass, visceral fat, regional fat distribution and bone mineral content.

ECAL Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Testing – measures how much energy your body uses at rest and provides information about your body’s preferred fuel source at rest.

Together, these assessments provide a more detailed understanding of your body composition and metabolism than body weight or BMI alone.
