DEXA Scan

Helping you better understand your health

Understanding your body is an important step towards improving your health.

A DEXA scan is a quick, safe and non-invasive imaging test that uses a very low dose of X-ray radiation to provide detailed insights into your bone health and body composition, including measurements of bone density, muscle mass and body fat.

Whether you’re looking to monitor your bone health, better understand your body composition or assess both in one appointment, our experienced Physiotherapists and Accredited Practising Dietitians at WLC Medical in Belmont, Perth provide medical-grade DEXA assessments and explain your results in plain language, helping you make informed decisions about your health.

Our Approach to Your Care

At WLC Medical, we believe understanding your results is just as important as receiving them. We take the time to explain your assessment, answer your questions and help you understand what your results mean for your health.

Your results are discussed with you during your appointment, and you’ll receive a comprehensive clinical report, comparable to those provided by established medical imaging services for bone density and body composition assessments, within 7 business days.

If you have been referred by your GP, we recommend arranging a follow-up appointment with them to discuss your results in the context of your overall health and ongoing medical care.

What Can a DEXA Scan Assess?

Bone Density DEXA Scan

A Bone Density DEXA scan measures the strength and density of your bones to assess bone health, identify low bone density and help determine your risk of fractures and conditions such as osteopenia and osteoporosis.

Whether you’re establishing a baseline, monitoring changes or assessing your response to treatment, this assessment provides accurate information to support informed healthcare decisions.
