How will my metabolism results be used?
Your ECAL results provide your Dietitian with objective information about how your body is using energy at the time of testing.
Your Dietitian can interpret your results alongside your medical history, blood test results, current eating habits, lifestyle, symptoms and health goals to help guide personalised nutrition and lifestyle recommendations.
The aim is not to label your metabolism as “good” or “bad”, but to use the information alongside your overall health and individual circumstances.

Can I book metabolism testing on its own?
No. ECAL metabolism testing is not available as a stand-alone service at WLC Medical.
It is available as part of a Dietitian consultation and is included at no additional cost. The test is optional, and you can choose whether you would like to complete it during your appointment.
ECAL testing is also included as part of our DEXA Sports Package and Health Insights Package.
What is ECAL Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) testing?
ECAL Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) testing is a non-invasive assessment that provides information about how your body uses energy at rest.
The test measures your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) and provides information about how your body is using fat and carbohydrates for energy.
Rather than relying solely on predictive equations or estimates, ECAL provides objective information that your Dietitian can consider alongside your medical history, current eating habits, lifestyle and health goals.
